The weekend spent at the Villa Sposa was the absolute best I can recall of my 48 years. The lavish secluded space provided the perfect opportunity to unwind and relax after rainy weather canceled our skiing plans. What a blessing! It was cozy to prepare a private dinner with my wife. An elaborate kitchen and dinning area made the decision to stay in easy for us. The amazing views from the hot tub, the luxury of the sunken tub with the lovely potions and lotions, the steam shower, the warmth and beauty of sitting in front of the fireplaces then the incredibly comfortable bed brought us much peace. It was ideal to return to the work week refreshed and renewed. We will need more than a weekend next time!
Good location for a ski weekend - beat all the traffic coming in the other way to Belleayre. Enjoyed the town of Arkville quite a bit as well!
Villa Sposa was simply the perfect home-base for our 4-day trip away from the city! Mercedes, our amazing host, personally greeted us upon arrival and walked us through the home and anything unique in great detail. Roxbury, and the immediate area surrounding, is truly a special location for such an escape. The home itself is full of character; from a working fireplace, beautiful and funky artwork / furniture, a full jacuzzi room, multiple outdoor sitting areas, outdoor bathing possibilities, outdoor fireplace and grill, adjacent / immediate access to private acreage, luxurious bedding and lounge-wear (if needed) and Bose Bluetooth speakers in many rooms and strong / consistent WiFi access throughout (super helpful given no cell service in-town). We only needed the master bedroom, but the second bedroom was beautifully-appointed as well. The entire home is centered around nature, with immediate access to the outdoors and constant views from anywhere in the home. Simply put, Villa Sposa is an awesome setting for a romantic / nature-focused getaway and Mercedes is the perfect host. We cannot recommend Villa Sposa enough and look forward to our next trip to Roxbury!
Expect to be greeted by your host, special touches just for you and a quiet serene atmosphere. The house is well appointed with a full kitchen well stocked. Very pleasant and gracious.
My fiancé and I wanted a midweek R&R and we were lucky that Villa Sposa was able to squeeze in our stay right before a wedding that weekend. There are not one, not two, but THREE bathtubs in this 2-bedroom house, and the master suite’s jacuzzi is truly out of this world. Bring a lot of bath soaks with you because you will want to spend a lot of time there. Sooo relaxing! Thank you VS Team for creating this magical oasis in charming Roxbury. We highly recommend this place and we can’t wait to be back!
This place is perfect for a romantic getaway! The Villa is surrounded by nature, what gives you a lot of privacy; It has very beautiful interior, the most comfy bed, super cool indoor jacuzzi and outdoor bathtub! Fast wi-fi, great sound system, and the host is super helpful and sweet!
Villa Sposa is beautifully situated in the Catskills. The place is exquisitely decorated with so many beautiful touches. My personal favorites - the beautiful meditation room, the 180 degree deck with a gorgeous view of the mountains, the morning fog moving in was breathtaking, just stunningly beautiful. I loved the little touches, the waterfall shower, heated toilets, every thing was immaculate. The jacuzzi tub with a view to die for. Mercedes and Aldo are consummate hosts and did a wonderful job sharing their love of the Catskills region with me. They are wonderful, warm hosts and you will thoroughly enjoy your stay at Villa Sposa.
Life is about the quality of experiences and our stay at Villa Sposa provided some excellent special experience to add to our weekend in the Catskills. We went to the Catskills to experience the growing artistic community and to enjoy a relaxing weekend. We decided to stay here because it stood out on the AirBnB listing. To make this short, the three top things that made it special and memorable were: 1) The furnishings including what seemed like museum quality period pieces, like we would see in a museum, except there were no ropes preventing people from sitting on them. The paintings on the walls were memorable including the Bird piece and the cougar with a collar. 2) The Bath Room. And by Bath Room I mean the room with the Jacuzzi off the master bedroom. It is a room with just a Jacuzzi attached to the Bedroom, you have to go through the shower to get to the other bathroom, where I actually used the bidet, but that’s TMI for this review. We spent a half hour in the Jacuzzi, and it was wonderful, especially after we figured out how to connect to the Bluetooth speaker in the Jacuzzi room and played our Pandora selections. (including Cold Little Heart). 3) The Hummingbird that I saw when I was waking up Sunday morning that was feeding from one of the flowers on the deck. My suggestion to Mercedes is to add some Hummingbird feeders. The Art, Jacuzzi, and Hummingbird are wonderful experiences that we will always cherish from our weekend at Villa Sposa.
Awesome time! Beautiful house! There were so many interesting parts of the house/property that we loved! We had a first class experience and the host made us feel at home.
Perfection. I booked this airbnb as a last-minute, much-needed getaway from the city & could not have asked for a better experience. Mercedes was accommodating, friendly, flexible, & responsive. She offered to go grocery shopping for us and had local coffee, half and half, and eggs waiting for us when we arrived. She also gave great recommendations re hiking trails/things to do in the area. As others have stated, pictures do not do this house justice. The space has a special energy - the entire space is carefully curated with an attention to detail that makes one feel rejuvenated and calm. The master bedroom is amazing and the Korean spa rejuvenating. The beds are extremely comfortable. The back deck has lovely views, plenty of seating, a fire pit, hot tub, grill - Mercedes delivered us wood for use in the fire pit the first morning of our stay which we really appreciated; she also offered to let us stay an extra day. I cannot wait to return for a longer span of time.

Bath on the street, it feels like taking a bath in a wild forest and there will be forest dwellers watching you, it's fabulous, hot water in the morning forest ❤️🥹❤️
The owners are incredibly people, at first they were scared that we had 3 dogs, but in the end they were friendly and nice, they treated us to rustic organic eggs and milk, it's so sweet.

Mercedes was an amazing host with an equally amazing space. Her excitement to share her local area was so nice and being greeted with many fresh local items felt special. The spaces are truly unique and full of fun surprises around every corner. From the outdoor bathtub hot tub to the towel warmer and infrared sauna there are fun things to explore everywhere. And then there’s the design, right out of the movies. Private and beautiful property, we will return soon.
Pictures and words will never do justice to this place or host. Absolutely stunning home, the details are quirky and unique and abundant. It was my first vacation where I didn't want to leave the house! The SPA room!?! OMG - what a dream! Outdoor bathtub in the forest, indoor jacuzzi, Korean infrared sauna, outdoor hot tub?! Paradise!! Host was incredibly helpful, sweet, responsive, accommodating. BY far the best place I've stayed in upstate. No question about it!
What a wonderful place to stay in Roxbury, NY. Mercedes is very responsive and helpful. Her home was fun! She had bread, butter, cheese, milk and fresh eggs waiting for us. Making us feel immediately at home. We enjoyed the hot tub and the Korean sauna. Such nice perks! The grounds were so peaceful, with a little clearing downhill from the house that was fabulous to sit and relax and feel at peace. The surrounding trees were so gorgeous. Would absolutely stay again! If you choose to stay here, you will be well taken care of.
This Villa was great! We will definitely be back. Mercedes was so communicative and helpful in getting us settled! The home was perfectly private while still being close to restaurants and activities. The helpful notes and instructions left around the house made for an easy comfortable relaxing weekend.
We absolutely loved staying at the Villa! It is an exquisite home filled with tasteful, adventurous and creative design throughout the home. The outdoor hot tub overlooking the snowy valley was breathtaking. The jacuzzi was equally fulfilling. We loved the animal themes of every room. We cant wait to return to the Villa!
Mercedes and Aldo are wonderful people and gracious hosts. We booked very last-minute and they were flexible and very accommodating. Mercedes gave recommendations for nearby grocery/supply shopping and they greeted us when we arrived and provided a quick tour. The house is beautiful, yet comfortable and looks exactly as it does in the pictures - maybe even better! The art is quirky and fun and everything is easy to use (made even easier by written instructions near each item). We took advantage of most of the amenities including the grill, jacuzzi, Korean sauna, grand piano and the separate structure for meditation. If you're looking for a quiet getaway, Villa Sposa is a great choice and you won't want to leave!

This is our 3rd stay at Villa Sposa and we had a fantastic time as usual! Mercedes is the most gracious and responsive host, even though we had a couple of accidental mishaps (broken Riedel glass and a chair back that cracked). We love to use the fire pit in the fall and soak in the amazing view and fresh air, and the hot tub is a game changer! This time we had a bit of rain and cloudy weather, which made for some romantic clouds passing over the moon. Other than the spectacular updates to the decor (a large birdcage with a fantasy vignette! New wildlife!) there is an Awesome new Korean sauna that is a truly unique way to relax and rejuvenate. We typically cook every meal in the well equipped catering grade kitchen, and recommend checking out the Phoenicia Diner on the way in and out! Thank you Mercedes for enabling our annual upstate fall getaway with beautiful memories!!
Villa Sposa is a beautiful, magical space - my husband and I stayed here for our wedding weekend. Mercedes’ attention to detail and graciousness as a host are magnificent. We are so grateful to have been able to celebrate our momentous weekend here and can’t recommend the Villa highly enough to those seeking a unique, romantic experience.
Amazing location, great views of the Catskills, beautiful scenery everywhere. The house was spotless, very well furnished, and has some of the most interesting art I’ve ever seen. Mercedes was a great host, very responsive and communicative, and even stocked the kitchen with a bunch of local treats. Amazing stay!
